Re: Detailed explanation of Purge Control Solenoid operation?

An interesting side note on the purge valve - the obd2 Honda ecu’s use a ‘pulse width modulated’ control on the purge valve- aka duty cycles. Verses the obd1 ecu’s that use an on and off valve that is then modulated by ‘ported’ vacuum on the back side of the throttle body. I have found the best appr...

Re: [HELP PLEASE]

Interesting thought. Sounds like it would be fairly compatible, with a built in knock sensor to keep an eye on things. Your EVAP PSP solenoid may need to be swapped to an 99+ design, due to reverse polarity, to prevent a stalling issue- maby. It might be easier to pass smog with a ODB2 ecu.... This ...

Re: Discussion: Adding more resolution to the maps or not?

It is possible- I widened my "load" range and turned 10 cells into 20 cells after some math work. I think this helped show some minor wrinkles I could iron out. I have yet to run into any hic ups with the "spread", and have been running it for over a year now this way. I'll attac...

Re: GSR timing map

I would love to get a direct answer to this as well. Hondatas P72 tune is close enough to get you started; but I was able to use a scan tool at work on an OBD2 GSR, and logged the ign timing while driving. I found that the Hondata supplied ign table is slightly different than what I was reading thro...

Re: RICH AFR spike partial throttle ?

Agreed, its probably something simple I'm over looking. Thanks for your thoughts and knowledge.
I'll re-post if/when its figured out.

Re: RICH AFR spike partial throttle ?

Yes, with the PSP solenoid unplugged, the symptom goes away completely. Sounds like normal operation wouldn't change A/F all that much. The shell is a 96 GSR 2 door, with original equipment, as far as EVAP systems. I have the EVAP Purge inlet hose routed per instructions from Skunk2, as I am using t...

Re: RICH AFR spike partial throttle ?

Thanks for the reply, I inverted the purge switch some time ago to learn, and found the car ran poorly at idle. So I switched that parameter back and left it. This is a fairly new symptom, but the A/F ratio spike got richer and richer, until it would bog down while driving on the highway, part throt...

Re: RICH AFR spike partial throttle ?

Bring up an old post from the grave yard, but I too ran into the 10:1+ spikes upon throttle tip. Primarily on high way speeds. Also found the culprit to be the EVAP purge (log showed PSP valve operating while symptom present) Seems as if the problem is else where- tested the entire EVAP systems, and...

Re: adjusting fuel compensation for cold weather?

Two things come to mind-
- IAC's tend to stick when in cold weather. But that wouldn't account for the 1800 rpm start up.
- TPS is a major player of ECU inputs, How is it "disabled" in the s300?

Re: adjusting fuel compensation for cold weather?

-40 is super cold!!! Please attach your s300 tune, (and a datalog if possible) so we can review it. What spark plugs are you running? If your crv starts, and then dies ( wont idle ) then I might think to look/adjust your "Post start fuel rate of decay" Another thought is the ign timing, su...

Re: lsvtec

If you don't find an exact map for your set up, I believe the "type r" calibration would work best to get ya going. If it were me, I would also lower the ignition values a few degrees on the heavy load columns for safe measure until you get it tuned, because the b18b1's don't have any prot...

Re: h22a s300 sensors problems help

2 degrees, wow, that's cold. Your "air/fuel" ratio is reading lean at 1.19... Is your O2 hooked up?... TPS doesn't look calibrated, but before anyone can give any kind of direct answer, or half of an answer, we need to see your tune. Please attach your tune so myself and others can browse ...

Re: ignition timing

The answer to your question is yes. My experience with alcohol is very limited outside of the local pub, haha, but what u say is especially true with these cars as they run super cold, even icing the intake manifold at times. That is one of the problems street tuning on E-85 injected cars. While adva...

Re: ignition timing

Well, the word "safe" there is a gray area. 2-3 degrees before knock, at Wide Open Throttle, is a common "safe zone" I've seen in the (street tuning) industry. As long as the knock sensor is enabled and working, it should clean up any low voltage knock after that if any pops up. ...

Re: ignition timing

Hi. My experience tells me the answer to ur question is no, advancing ur timing, and not hitting a knock value wont damage ur bearings. I have friends that run E-85, which seems to have a huge resistance to knocking. so much so tuning the cars that run E-85 , u find the the MBT before u find knock, ...
