I'd recommend a junkyard, preferably a U-pull-it one. Then you can get the IAT sensor and the plug that clips on it at the same time.

Only downside to this approach is that many junkyards don't want to let you cut up the wiring harness.

Well, it's been almost a year since I last visited this thread, but I thought I'd chime in with an update. I began having misfire problems once again with my setup, and again I checked the usual things like spark plugs seated correctly, LTFT within good limits, etc. This time, all of those things we...

The pocket programmer is designed to communicate with a parallel port. If your USB adapter is showing up as a COM port, then what you have is a USB to serial port adapter. This will not work, even if it's DB25.

Go find a USB to parallel (printer port) adapter instead.

I'll hit the bullet points here, but you definitely should go read through Hondata's web site (including the link above). All of your questions are answered there. The original OBD-II ECU gets yanked and placed on a shelf (or sold, though not many people want 'em). In its place goes a modified OBD-I...

Glad to help. Now it's time to lean out those part throttle maps, so the ECU will stop yanking fuel to reach stoich under closed loop.

Don't worry too much about the altitude thing, the ECU is *supposed* to correct for changes in atmospheric pressure. The big potential problems are areas of your part throttle fuel map that are rich/lean *while you're in closed loop*. I wrote a big post on a similar topic a while back, when I was se...

Sounds like your long term fuel trim (LTFT) is getting out of whack, and pulling all your fuel maps either lean or rich. This is a common problem if your part-throttle (closed loop operation) fuel maps are out of tune. Check your LTFT with Hondalogger. A well-tuned vehicle that is driven at the same...

Topic: map sensor relocation for JRSC

A Hondata system can use the stock MAP sensor to read up to approximately 11psi. I'm not sure where you've relocated the MAP sensor, but as long as it's plumbed directly off the intake manifold and not off the throttle body, it will function properly. The key is to make sure that the MAP sensor pick...

Need is a relative term. :)

Decide for yourself: if you want to see some examples of what a Hondata system can do for a setup with more aggressive cams, take a look at the dyno charts on Hondata's web site. The '98 ITR is a good example.

In short, no. The Hondata folks use a system similar to what Honda/Acura dealers use to update K-series ECUs. The ECUs are flashable because Honda/Acura dealers might occasionally need to install an ECU improvement or bugfix from Honda when a car is in for service; Hondata simply took this capabilit...

The maps need to be good enough for the engine to run, but that's about the only true prerequisite. If your maps are way out of whack, it will obviously take a bit longer to properly autotune. The autotune feature only adjusts the fuel maps, not the timing maps. Tuning the timing is less of a black-...

If this is a Hondata question, then you can go here to see the list of ECUs that are candidates for Hondata conversion. Any of the OBD-I ECUs that have the features you need (e.g. VTEC) should work fine.

If this is not a Hondata question...well, you're in the wrong forum, bud. :)

You'll see some small gains, but probably not enough to justify the cost. The stock ECU already runs fairly rich at WOT, which is one reason why increasing airflow alone nets you such large gains. For a B-series engine, a Hondata system really only shows its worth when you move beyond bolt-ons and i...

The Lambda conversion tables have nothing to do with the operation of the ECU. They aren't uploaded or transferred to the ECU in any way. They're simply used by Hondalogger/ROM Editor to convert the WB O2 voltage into a Lambda value. The purpose of this Lambda value is to allow you (as the tuner) to...

I can't speak for what your WB O2 can and can't do...some WB O2 meters claim to support a "narrow band emulation" mode that will mimic the voltage behavior of a standard narrow band O2 meter. If you're simply changing your ROM from open loop to closed loop and not changing anything else, y...
