Causes of false knocks

Had my turbo mid-engine car tuned at Church Automotive last Thursday. The setup: K24A1 block Pauter rods 9.5:1 CP pistons TSX head RBC 2.5 bar MAP 1000 cc ID injectors GT3071 twin-scroll 91 octane pump gas KPro PRB ECU Don't remember the wastegate spring values but boost came up to 6 psi at 3000, an...

That's what I'm saying, that there is no feedback. It's PWM (pulse width modulation) setup, and I think the ECU just assumes it went to where it was commanded - AFAIK there is no potentiometer feedback.

While it's closed-loop, it's not "really" closed-loop. Yes, if the valve is opened, the engine speeds up, and if it's closed the engine slows down, but it would be tough to have a hard relationship due to engine speed being dependant upon other things, like a vacuum leak. If it got a leak, it's the ...

What he's saying is that when Hondata installes their daughter card, they modify the Honda ECU - in some way they may be unwilling to share. Because of that, if the Hondata board's ever removed, the ECU will not work. If Hondata won't share, and you know how to solder, compare your ECU with a dead-s...

Hmm, that's not good, I've run the ECU for hours during debugging and it barely gets warm. Double-check that power is going to the correct pins.

Hah, that "someone" is Joe at Locash Racing, who very generously helped me out. Thanks for adding the results of your investigation!

As far as signal levels, it's not RS-232. It sits idle at +12V and drops to 0V for a "1".

To add closure to this issue, turns out that the data packet coming out of the Honda/Hondata KPro is not RS-232 like virtually all other ECUs. Since the Dash Interface module expects RS-232 explains why it isn't working, but RT does make a unit specifically for the KPro, but sent me the generic one ...

excellent, thanks. I passed that along to Race Technology for comment. Has Hondata ever changed the contents of the above packet, or is it fixed per Honda? Just wondering why RT isn't passing all the Hondata through. Is it because they choose not to, or because the packet contents changed? BTW, I'm ...

Logger data packet contains...

Some aftermarket flat-dash setups have interfaces to various ECUs, including the KPro. I'm having an issue where I see data coming out of the KPro at 9600 baud, but don't see anything coming out of the ECU interface. In order to narrow down where the problem is, can Hondata please confirm what data ...

Okay, thanks. I'm sending it to someone who can check it out on a running car and is very familiar with KPro. This way I at least establish it's a known-working unit - which counts for a lot right now, having changed so much of the electrical system.

I'd be happy to, but: 1. I do not own, nor know anyone, with an RSX-S, nevermind them letting me plug in a possibly-problematic ECU into their ride. 2. Does MAP read all the time, like coolant temperature, no one will say, but if so, there's something wrong with the ECU, since regardless what voltag...

Looking into this further and it's looking like I've got a screwed up ECU. Ever since buying it, A/F only reads 14.7, and now MAP's stuck at -28.9. I rang out the wires and ensured the ground, signal, and reference are present, but it doesn't matter what voltage is applied to the signal input, alway...
