Hi guys..
I have a JDM OBD0 B16A that orginally was running a PR3.
Upgraded to a p28 running a s200...
Now I want to upgrade to a S300 and want to know which ecu is the best choice ? My s200 on the p28 is being sold...
So what is the best choice ?
-p28 or p06 or p30?
I guess a big question is if I want to use the factory knock sensor ?
thanks for all the help

B16A JDM OBD0, want a s300 on a obd1 ecu, which ecu ?
It has to be an ecu...the choice is up to you...if you want knock control, you need an ecu that supports this. There is a complete list of the ecu's at: http://www.hondata.com/ecus.html
Thanks Spunkster
I was told that the knock control circuit was calibrated to each engine type. So for a B16A using a P30 would be the ecu and using a P72 won't be a good idea.
Then again the stock knock control was for a stock engine. And that keeping it wasn't the best idea on a modified engine. And using a aftermarket system would be a better idea.
But I think my biggest question was...
So if I get a P06 how much more is it going to cost to have it upgraded so it does Vtec.
Compaired to if I just purchased a P28 that has Vtec already.
thanks

Thanks Spunkster
So with a S300 install on a P06 the regular install is done http://www.hondata.com/s300socketing.html
And the P06 will be able to activate vtec if my wiring to the ecu is correct?

I have the complete list of the resistor differences between knock boards. I personally have 3 b-series cars, one turbo, one supercharged and one NA...all using p72 equivalents with the knock sensors enabled.

Spunkster, by this would you ,mean that by removing or adding resistors to the locations would change the calibration of a knock board?Spunkster wrote:Knock Board resistor locations:
(All resistors are 100 Ohms - Brown, Black, Brown, Gold)
US P61 - None
US P30 - R15

JDM PR3 - R15 (OBD1)
JDM P72 - R11, R15, R16
JDM P13 - R15
JDM P14 - R15
i.e. re-calibrating my p72 knock board to that of a P13 H22A spec board?
or can i simply swap knock boards for the same effect?
What would the resistors need to be for a usdm h22 motor using p72?Masta_Cutz wrote:Spunkster, by this would you ,mean that by removing or adding resistors to the locations would change the calibration of a knock board?Spunkster wrote:Knock Board resistor locations:
