map sensor relocation for JRSC

Post by rmcdaniels »

I've been using the JR MAP controller with my JRSC setup, but am going to get a Hondata controller. I know I won't need the MAP controller, but should I leave the MAP sensor relocator installed? Will the Hondata be able to read positive manifold pressure from the factory MAP sensor?

Application:
'99 Civic Si
header, hi-flow cat, cat-back, JRSC with 11lb pulley, 160 degree thermostat, 1-range colder plugs, CAI, MSD SCI ignition.

A Hondata system can use the stock MAP sensor to read up to approximately 11psi. I'm not sure where you've relocated the MAP sensor, but as long as it's plumbed directly off the intake manifold and not off the throttle body, it will function properly. The key is to make sure that the MAP sensor picks up the actual pressure in the manifold between the valves and the throttle plate.
