Autotune, closed loop, Idle Questions
Autotune, closed loop, Idle Questions
Hi,
I'm running a kpro4 with my Kraftwerks SC boosted 2004 S2000. I'm using an aftermarket wideband with analog input on analog input 1.
I want to eventually run the car in closed loop using the WOT target lambda tables enabled to allow for closed loop WOT operation after tuning.
I know that WOT tuning on a dyno is always done in open loop.
But, in order to use the autotune feature with my aftermarket wideband, live tuning and the lambda overlay tables, do I disable closed loop or keep closed loop enabled?
And does anyone have other suggestions or hints for using autotune?
Also is idle set in open loop as well? And does it matter if I set the idle before or after tuning?
Thanks,
Ben

Re: Autotune, closed loop, Idle Questions
It is best to road tune in closed loop but with the minimum and maximum short term to both set to 0.
Idle doesn't matter if open or closed loop. The only thing with idle is that it will learn after a day or two and change a little after and upload.

Great, thanks!
For the autotune, should I follow the same process as suggested for dyno tuning?:
1) set vtec point high, tune low cam fuel
2) set vtec point low, tune high cam fuel
3) set vtec point high, tune low cam ignition
4) set vtec point low, tune high cam ignition
5) set vtec point back to WOT optimized vtec point
etc.??
Or do I simply drive the car normally with the vtec set at the 'normal' point and with all four tables (low and high cam fuel and ignition tables) set to live tuning?
Thanks,

Yes, set the vtec high and tune low speed cam etc. You're going to struggle to tune ignition at all (it really needs a dyno).

Perfect, thank you!Hondata wrote:Yes, set the vtec high and tune low speed cam etc. You're going to struggle to tune ignition at all (it really needs a dyno).
Re: Autotune, closed loop, Idle Questions
Ok, I tried using autotune this weekend. It doesn't seem to do anything. I have the play sound when changes are made option on, but never once did I hear a sound. And I didn't notice any changes being made.Hondata wrote:Yes, set the vtec high and tune low speed cam etc. You're going to struggle to tune ignition at all (it really needs a dyno).
I was using the factory narrow band O2 in closed loop. Do I need to use my analog input from my wideband instead, or is the narrow band O2 OK for autotune
Any help regarding why autotune wouldn't be working would be great. Thanks,
Ben
Re: Autotune, closed loop, Idle Questions
Please post a datalog and calibration. Sometime the autotune parameters are too restrictive too.

Ok, here's the calibration.Hondata wrote:Please post a datalog and calibration. Sometime the autotune parameters are too restrictive too.
Apparently, I might have found a bug with the Datalog "download from ecu function. I have the attached settings for Datalog, but those datalog files that I downloaded are not on my computer. They are not in the default location, and I don't recall ever being prompted to choose a location. And I got no results when searching my hard drive.

Re: Autotune, closed loop, Idle Questions
Are you referring to on-board datalogs, or datalogs made on your laptop?
Re: Autotune, closed loop, Idle Questions
I used the onboard datalogging. Then I used the "Download from ecu" feature to download the datalogs. But now I can cannot locate them, even with a global hard drive search. Am I missing something?Spunkster wrote:Are you referring to on-board datalogs, or datalogs made on your laptop?
Re: Autotune, closed loop, Idle Questions
Downloading does not save it, it just opens it in the software. You then need to either go to the datalogging menu and save it, or you can click save as instead of downloading it and it will give you the choice of where to save it to.
Re: Autotune, closed loop, Idle Questions
Okay well that's not very clear. And now I've deleted all of the datalogs from my ecu thinking I'd downloaded and saved them.Spunkster wrote:Downloading does not save it, it just opens it in the software. Okay so back to my original issues with autotune. Can you glean anything from the calibration?
Thanks,

Hi, any insight on why autotune might not have been working? I attached my calibration in a previous message. I'd like to try again this coming weekend. Please let me know what I might try to get it to work.
Thanks,

Show us what you have the autotune settings set to.
