"Injector Size" value: what table(s) does it NOT affect?

Post by Arno »

The KManager help file states that: "Changing the injector size will automatically compensate the fuel tables for the rating of the injector (but not for the specific characteristics of the injector). Also the cranking fuel is compensated based on the injector size."

Just curious.. Are there KManager tables/settings that the injector size setting/adjustment has no or little effect on and may be 'off' a little when fitting other injectors?

What I mean is, are there tables/values will likely/possibly need manual adjustment after using different size injectors and updating the 'Injector Size' value?

Can imagine some of the fuel compensations that are applied at certain conditions (gear, load, starting, temperature, etc.) may not be scaled with the injector size and may need some additional work for smoothest behaviour.

Bye, Arno.

If you can imagine the flow of the fuel injector duration calculation in the ECU, starting with a raw value from the VE tables, adjusting for temperature, closed loop, tip in, fuel fuel etc then finally converting to an injector pulse, the 'injector size' alters the fuel value before it is converted to a pulse width. So it alters the closed loop, tip in etc as well. So pretty much everything.

Thanks for the info! Good to know the injector size factor is applied at the last moment and not earlier like some other ECU's do..

That saves a bunch of extra stuff to (re-)check and adjust. :)
