1990 Honda CRX K20a2 swap

Post by JohnNC »

37820-prb-a05 and 2068-502603. My car has 1000cc injectors, high flow fuel pump, intake, and skunk2 headers, and my vtec solenoid went bad so i replaced it. Now my car is in limp mode with a p1259 vtec pressure code. I did an oil change but have not check the oil pressure yet because I dont have the tool. I would like to think that it is not a pressure issue because it was running fine before the solenoid went bad, so how do i get the ecu out of limp mode, and could the ecu be hacked by a neighbor who hates me in an attempt to cause me problems? I know it sounds crazy, but I got some real A-hole neighbors, and I know they hack my laptops, and cell phone so i would not completely rule it out. I also took my ecu out of the car and built a metal bracket to hold my ecu in the car so it could not be stolen. I bought the car used so I am just learning out this stuff, any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Does the replacement VTEC solenoid have a VTEC pressure sensor?

I highly doubt anyone has hacked your ECU or vehicle.

Have you tried your ECU in a known working vehicle?

I do not have access to a vehicle like that, but I checked the VTC oil control valve. The valve works but there is no power from the ecu. I checked power while engine was running and while reving the throttle.

You need to try to find someone to try your ECU in their vehicle to see if it is the ECU or something else, This will help you narrow down where the problem is.

Will any k20 from the same year(s) work or does it have to come from exact car, which may be pretty difficult to find? With that said, if it is the ecu and I have to replace it can I save the tune and reinstall it on the new ecu?

Any one that has a car running with a K-Pro already can help you test this.

No that ebay link will not work.

I hate to ask you basically the same question, but what if its close to the matching numbers and from a kpro swap like this one? I say this because it wont be easy for me to find someone in my town....

I don't understand what the ebay links have to do with testing. You just need to try your ECU in someone else's vehicle that is running K-Pro or has a stock vehicle that a K-Pro will work in.

right but if I cant do that or it would be easier to purchase one, then I could try the new(used) one on my car. if my car runs as it should then it would narrow it down to my current ecu. when you buy a new Kpro it comes with stock tunes, so shouldnt a stock ecu operate the car in a normal fashion? If the problem persist when the new(used) ecu then that would indicate a problem with the car not my current ecu
