I just realized, and this may be a small part of it at the very top end, I lowered the rev limiter to 8250 and smacked into it once or twice pretty good, then adjusted my driving and didnt.

Gotcha. Yeah hopefully it comes back inline, everything was going so well. I thought it was going to be dialed on this one and move onto the 40*. Let me know how it goes.

So I am fairly sure my IACV is acting up now. It has all the telltale signs of it, and I'm running the AEM through bumper CAI with tons of salt on the road, I'm wondering if that's what caused it, its hanging idle at 2k from or so, I'm sure it isnt helping anything. I'm cleaning it off now and hopefully itll free up then I'll get some logs. Thanks Kyle

Gotcha, yeah it will be interesting to see if that is it. Yeah it bummed me out to see the fueling so erratic, I was expecting all green data cells with 0-1% trims. Let me know how it goes.

First quick glance looks like at 6500 in all gears its nice and consistent at 13.1:1 to 13.3:1 in all 8 logs. Hopefully I didn't pick the only good datapoint for my glance lol.

Yeah it is all interesting. That idle hunting is something I have never seen before. But with how erratic it is, I think you're on the right track.

I think we need to take a couple of steps back and go back to Rev06 and regroup. Rev06 was the first 30* cam one and everything was fine, a little lean, but fine since it was the first 30* file. Going back to Rev06 gets us back to your smooth fuel tables and we can start over. Right now we're adding and subtracting more fuel than we need to.

Let me know what you think about going back to Rev06

No problem I think that's worth a shot. I'll load it up and take some fresh logs.

Looking closer Revision8 did seem to be not nearly as stable as 6 for fueling, is that what you saw too?

Whenever there is an issue with a new revision, I always like to go back to the last known good file and reinspect. By going back to Rev06 we can reset and look at the data compared to a known good datalog from before and keep everything clean going forward. After chasing an issue, the fuel tables can get a little out of wack from a lot of changes. Since your car was so clean and smooth, I would like to keep your tables that way as well.

Rev08 was rich because I added fuel just into vtec based on the Rev07 datalog. Now that whatever issue was causing an issue on the high cam doesn't seem to be an issue anymore it's rich where I added fuel. Sort of like I said above, let's get back to our last known good file and start fresh so your fueling is nice and clean. Adding and subtracting large amount of fuel multiple times makes the fuel tables less smooth sometimes. Some situations it's better to take a step back and regroup.

Reason being is I use the more mild cams to get the turbo spooled a bit quicker, i like having a but of headroom on the turbo side if things. If I was racing in a class with limits on inducer size itd be a different story but for the street I like to leave maybe ~10-15% on the table for longevity and for when I inevitably get hungry for more. I do give credit to heads and cams, once you're smashing 20psi and up into the bottom end, well its just not nearly as crucial as trying to scavenge as much power as possible NA. Sure efficiency is paramount but in a K20A2/Z1/etc. The factory head and cam setup is plenty to make 450+ totally factory motor on Pump 93 and we've all seen plenty of 600hp cars on E85.

What turbo will you be running? Stock motor? (Or blower car?)

You could go a lot of different ways.

For example of you had a tiny GReddy turbo kit maybe youd try to eek out all it's got and go hyper aggressive on the cam setup/angle. *which would be pointless but still for a shitty example
Sorry for the late response in the middle of your guys' remote session. But it is a stock K24a2 swapped into and Ep3 chassis. Turbo is a Turbonetics 60-1. It's just a street car to drive around in on 92 petrol. I've been gravitating towards 20* to 15* up top. Previously was in the mid 30*s and it seemed harder to get ignition timing into it without the knock sensor reporting. But the intercooler plumbing and 3" exhaust is crammed in this little chassis, so can sometimes hear some light vibrating, which could possibly set the knock sensors off. But when reducing timing, it did seem to stop knocking, so maybe not false knock.

Kyle,

Ok makes perfect sense, eliminate a possible mechanical issue and have a nice back to back "then vs now" with a known previously good map. The more I looked at the logs the more surprised I was. I also replaced the Throttle Body Gasket with a new OEM, It looked a little ratty and may have been a source of a slight Vac leak. Logs coming shortly.

Hi Brian,

Definitely looks like we're back on track. Glad that was a simple fix. Go ahead and throw Rev07 in there and let's see how it looks. The fueling in the "redux 6" looks very similar to the original Rev06 datalog. So the changes in rev07 should be really close. Take Rev07 for a trip to Mexico and let's see how it looks.

If you want to go a different route than trying Rev07, let me know. But I think that's the best course of action based on what I saw in this "redux 6" datalog.

Let me know.

No I like your thinking on this,it makes sense to verify the cars acting as should before we simply bandaid a problem but chucking fuel at it.

I'll try Rev7 and be back. Thanks for the help
