Boosted LSVTEC cutting off in 4th gear

Post by Clint_001 »

Hi Guys,

I'm having a weird problem yesterday at the races. My 1st qualify round went all the way from 1st through 4th gear without any problems, but on the 2nd round I raised my launch rpm to 7500rpm instead of 7200rpm.

The car ran good in 1st through 3rd but kind of hit a rev limit around 7300rpm.

My setup is a 83mm LSvtec turbo running ID1000cc injectors 6765 turbo, ITR cams, S300, Hondata 4 bar map sensor, walbro and bosch inline fuel pump tuned on C16

I'm clueless to what could be causing this. Please let me know what you guys suggest.

I have seen something similar from a combination of high rpm (over 10,000) and distributor noise (often aftermarket). The ECU detects errors at a rate not high enough to give a check engine light, but seems to run in a partial limp mode.

I'm running a M&W pro 10 ignition box with a crane ps92 coil.
I've had miss firing issue at first with the stock ignition system but once I switched to the M&W box it went away and didn't have any issues until yesterday. Not even on the dyno when I dynoed in 4th gear.

@ Hondata or any experienced tuners: Have you gone through my parameters to see if there could be anything unusual that could be causing the cutting off in 4th gear?

Your TPS reading went away, probably causing the issue..
