B20a5 Basemap

Post by Kuran »

Hello! Have an '99 Prelude with an H23a on Hondata running great.

However the issue im dealing with is finding a basemap for an '88 Prelude with an B20a5. I've heard rumor of the engine being ran off of B18 nonvtec basemaps but don't know how bad the timing and fuel tables compare.
Anyone have some insight to this? Possibly creating a b20a basemap for me?

here use this. I specialise in 3g preludes, though I've only tuned one on hondata that was close to stock. I created this basemap for you based on a tune I did on a b20a5 that had mild cams, 60mm TB, pacesetter header and exhaust, stock bottom end, and stock injectors. I don't remember though if it had the b20a5 intake manifold or the b21 intake manifold. Let me know how it works for you, just remember it is of course just a basemap and will definitely need further tuning for whatever your setup consists of. It should definitely get it running and get you off to a good start though. WOT will probably be decently rich.
For those noticing how much the top end drops off, that is normal in a 3g prelude motor, especially if the exhaust isn't big enough, which in this car it was definitely not big enough at 2.25". With a full true mandrel bent 2.5" exhaust, the top end will flow much better. Years ago I did a dyno comparison on my bone stock b21 (with a tune) after a fresh rebuild. Going from stock exhaust with a flawless cat and no clogs or dents anywhere and a tune to a full custom downpipe mated to the stock exhaust manifold and a true mandrel 2.5" exhaust from the downpipe back also tuned, it gained over 35 max hp. the graph is quite amazing too in that they overlay each other perfectly up to around 5800 where the stock exhaust takes a dive and the custom exhaust climbs a little higher, then flattens out, then drops off right before rev limit.
