No start, randomly dies

I’ve searched a few threads and can’t find a problem alike. I have a newly referbished p72 A01, I installed the chip myself a year or so ago. It’s sat on my floor for a while so I could tune and data log with my laptop, finally decided to put the ecu back where it goes so I don’t have to keep reminding my passengers not to step on it, so we put it back in the area it goes and just ran the usb wire over the footwell and up the side of the seat. No wires are pinched as we checked the harnesses and everything, no exposed wires and has never really gave me issues this consistantly. The computer says the ecu is disconnected when it’s still connected, seems like you have to wiggle it a little to get it where it will work, well now when we wiggle the cord that goes into the chip, it makes the car hesitate and die, it’s like choking a lawnmower then opening the air way up so it doesn’t die, if that makes any sense. I’m concerned the chip is bad because I’ve used it a lot with no issues in the past, but literally will kill the car if you try to connect the usb to the ecu while it’s running, and sometimes it won’t start if it’s not connected to where the computer recognizes it, has anyone had these issues before??

This sounds like either a grounding issue, or bad soldering for the socketing of the ECU. Post pictures of the bottom of the ECU where it has been soldered for the s300.

Recently helped a friend with this, you still might wanna take a close look at the board to see if the caps are leaking even though it's supposedly refurbished. His car would have all sorts of problems then we randomly would push on the connectors which was likely causing some flex in the PCB. Opened it up and the caps appeared to have been leaking for some time and the acid started eating the board.

Looks like I’m still having this issue but now it got worse, I rechecked the solders and recleaned the board so there was no flux anymore, for a while I could wiggle the cord just right and it would work, now I have a red flashing light on d2 I beleive, and it still uploads and connects just fine, on board datalogging is off and now the car has a cel with no codes and runs horrible. Everything was running fine, and it seems like it I got my cable set to were the car would run, next day I come out after not messing with anything, I’d go to start the car and have to manipulate it just right to where it would run again, I think d3 is off, d2 is flashing red, and d4 is solid green, I can get d2 to stay solid green without the laptop plugged in, but it when I go to start the car it stays green but still has the ghost cel and will start but runs so bad. I tried saving the file, deleting it off the ecu and redone loading it but still no avail, I’ve cleaned battery terminals as well. Not sure if the ecu needs that brass looking support that holds the ecu or what but it seems like a grounding issue, maybe a bad battery? Because no grounds have ever been touched and it seems like the chip sits down just fine, it was working before I had to mess with it and do all this, just had to manipulate the cord to get it to work right

Are you saying that if you move the ECU connectors it starts?

Is there corrosion on the plugs or connectors?

Yes it starts but it was more or less I had to do that in order for the laptop to connect and to get rid of the cel. But now I can get it to start, there’s no sweet spot anymore, I took the chip out, cleaned the solder points on back again, reinstalled chip and I get a solid green light by plug for 3 seconds and then it goes away and I get a red flashing nex to the USB port if the laptop is plugged in, I’ve tried checking grounds, main relay and the s300s connections, everything looks fine, even tried reuploading a new tune and still have the same issues, it wants to start but when it does it runs so bad, I’m lost at this point. I can still Datalog and upload, but the tps reads -13% and etc is 302

Can’t get it to start* also no there is no corrosion

Post pictures of the bottom and top of the ECU showing the solder joints for the socketing and the capacitors on the top.
