07 Civic Si with K24Z3 K&N Typhoon Short Ram Tune

Post by obscureyeti »

07 Civic Si with K24Z3
Stock Si Manifold and exhaust
Si Vtec solenoid and throttle body.
K&N Typhoon Short Ram,
Stock Si oil pan
just ordered hondata flash pro should have it by this weekend.
44k miles engine was from a tsx type s motor jdm 09. Sounds mean, but want to fine tune a few things I don't like about it as a daily driver.

I think throttle response and hang could be improved in some areas. as well as stop and go responsiveness.

It actually feels a little bit slower since I put the K&N typhoon short ram on there. It sounds mean though. I'm hoping there is a basemap or tune I can do to fix this before getting a custom dyno tune.

I am going to do my own datalogging and look at some of what I am seeing online. Hopefully with enough gear pulls and WOT pulls I can get some good datalogging here.

I am also curious if a basemap with K&N would work well here as a starting point? Who makese the hondata basemaps for these intakes? Thanks!

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Made some huge progress on the Dyno. Have a screenshot of the run and a datalog of a recent run! Woohoo!

209 HP / 172 TQ WHP

Been a lot of fun. A/F ratio fixed.

Any feedback appreciated. Datalog included.

I made some adjustments to VTC upon deceleration. 20 degrees was not good. changed it to 25 degrees for smoother downshifts and daily driving.

After changing to 25 degrees VTC upon deceleration, I noticed a lot of knocks went away.

Made some adjustments to 20 degree ignition high around 5000-6000rpm and that got rid of the last remaining knocks.

Will keep everyone posted if anyone is interested!

Latest datalog shows the 1 remaining knock,

Going to see if the ignition retard does it. Another hill run time!

Raced another Si while datalogging with my girlfriend in the car.

Looked like a 2012+ model newer Si. Smoked him! lol.

Fixed the knocking with VTC fuel upon decel. Had to increase the angle to 25 degrees upon decel instead of 20. Made a few changes to ignition retard to get rid of some of the knocks.

20 upon decel had a ton of knocks, changing it to 25 reduced a lot, then slight adjustment to ignition retard so I don't insult my tuner. lol. He did a great job, guys. I just wanted to make it more driveable.

Made a change by 0'ing out the cam angle on idle.

Made starting up a lot better after changing VTC upon deceleration and 0'ing out that cam angle, it was a little rough/vibration without it.

Appears to be very smooth and downshifts are good.

Not a single knock.

Just went neck and neck with an Audi 2.0 Turbo with some loud tin can bolt ons on the fwy. lol.
