FlashPro break HDS?

Post by jonofmac »

Hello,

I have a flash pro tune on my 09 FA5, and tried to connect HDS 3.0.12 (Honda diagnostic software) to it via the DLC/OBDII port but the software is unable to connect to the ECU.

To do a quick check of the HDS, I verified it works just fine on my wife's accord.

Do you know if there are any issues with compatibility having the ECU tuned? I would imagine no, but I'm not sure what else it would be. Flash pro can connect and datalog just fine.

I'm trying to read SRS codes which FlashPro cannot do, but I fail to connect to the module.

Should I try to flash the ECU to stock tune? I'm supercharged, so having to flash to stock to use HDS every time would be rather inconvenient.

Depending on what type of HDS and vehicle, it may not be able to determine the vehicle type from the ECU.

It's a 2009 Civic Si Sedan on the newer "hybrid tune".

I'll dig out my FP and flash back to stock to see if it'll connect.

Interesting. Flashing back to stock did not work either.

Does using the flash pro tool leave any sort of effect on the ECU?

Interesting, when I unlocked and attempted to relock my flasher to my car, I got the error (attached file)

Running latest FPM version too.

Return to stock puts back 100% Honda code in the ECU. There is no residue.

With some vehicles Honda uses the same ECU part over multiple vehicles, which is why you get the warning (pre VSA vs post VSA ECUs).

thanks for the reply.

Then perhaps the issue is that I am using the HIM to try to connect instead of a MVCI?

The HIM will not work on anything with CAN.

Thanks for this post. This is the first useful piece of information I've been able to find about the tool. Lol. Let me try to locate a MVCI

For anyone else who may have this issue. It is true that the HIM does not work with my 2009 Civic Si.

I managed to locate a MVCI (works like a GNA600) (a generic/cheap one on eBay) and it does infact work on my Si, even with the hondata flashpro tune on it. Note that I am using the newer 'hybrid tune' style of tune.
