Warmup ignition retard

Post by phantom_ »

in section Calibration/Ignition Parameters, there is a parameter named Warmup ignition retard with a checkbox.

help file explains the parameter as: When cold the ECU retards the ignition to increase the catalytic converter temperature. For race vehicles without a catalytic converter this may be disabled.

i do not have a catalytic converter. is it ok to disable the warmup ignition retard? is it true that the only advantage to be gained will be disabling the ignition retard until some ECT level?

does it have any negative effects on any other part of the engine?

thanks,

This is just for emissions and will not harm anything.

I noticed my the throttle seems choppy when accelerating from a cold start and only disappears after the engine warms up.

Will unchecking this solve that issue? is it alright to remove the Warmup ignition retard on a stock vehicle?

It's a street vehicle in terms of being used as a daily driver around town, and is completely stock.

Not used for racing at all.
