DIY Shift light - how do I read the RPM signal?

Post by Ebola_One »

I'm making a custom shift light, and I've hit a bit of a snag;
I can't seem to find anything anywhere about how I should tap into the OEM Honda RPM sensor/signal; ie should I have a resistor on it, a diode (was going to do this anyway - so what value should I put in there)
What voltage does the OEM distributor put out?
Does the RPM sensor go to ground when triggered, or does it go high?

The car is a JDM DA6 with an OBDI PR3.

I know, there are cheap options availble, but I want to make a shiftlight with certain functions that don't cost an arm and a leg.

Cheers.
