BIOETHANOL E85

Post by Djbower1 »

Hi all,

Does the Unites States have BIOETHANOL E85 fuel?? The reason I ask is that they have just launched it here in the uk.

I have been told that is 104 RON which means more advance and abit more power :)

I would appreciate any feedback from people which have used E85 Fuel

Thanks,

Dan

I looked into this a while ago.....
Iirc, E85 has 85% ethanol, has a stoich of 10:1 and has a lower calorific value than UK 95 ron.
Fuel consumption will increase by +/-33% and can be awkward to set up for cold starts. Lower cost is off-set, more or less, by the greater consumption. It seems to be widely available in Europe just now, as well as 100ron.
I will have a look for the info I gathered. Not to sure if I still have it lying around.

That would be grate if you could find your research.

10:1 wow that must be bad for the fuel consumption

Thanks,
