O2 heater fault code - 1K resistor not working

Post by Govroom »

I installed my PLX wideband A/F and using the NB to my stock P30 OBD2a ecu. Works good but I cannot eliminate the heated fault code with a 1K resistor or 250 ohm. A 10 ohm will do it, but I do not want that hot resistor under my hood. Do the OBD2 ecu’s need to draw more current to trick this circuit? I will keep trying, but I was hoping someone had experience with this. I want to get this working before I switch over to Hondata. The 1K does work for everybody’s OBD1 ecu?

This will not work on an OBD2 ECU.

I got it to work with a 50 ohm resistor, so that is only about 4 watts of heat (use a minimum of a 10W resistor). I found sources that suggested using between 20 and 40 ohms.
I left the 1K solidered to the O2 connector and added the 50 with connectors so I can remove it when I install the OBD1.
Thanks
