Help with Open vs Closed loop operation/calibration.

Post by benci »

Hi

Have a B16A1 which I'm converting to Turbo/E85.
The engine setup is a B16A1 drilled/honed +0,5 with forged CP-pistons, rods, ARP's, Cometics gasket and OEM-Cams and have comp.ratio 10.7:1.
After the engine was rebuilt, I run the engine in N/A-mode for the entire summer, with the "stock JDM P30" calibration, just with some minor Fuel Table tunings.
It was also on a dyno, after the engine was rebuilt, gave 150hp on the wheels. Just like OEM.

Installed brand new injectors ID1050x, drained out the gasoline and filled up the tank with E85.
Modified the "stock JDM P30" for the new ID1050x injectors and added 30% to Overall Fuel Trim . (se picture)

Have stock, OEM fuel pressure. Use AEM Fuego Wideband.

The engine is still in N/A-mode, with OEM header and no boost.

Now to the problem:

In Closed Loop everything looks OK.
With all the fuel corrections almost on "0", I get Lambda-1. (se picture)

But when I switch to Open Loop the Lambda goes crazy rich. (se picture)

To get back to Lambda-1 in Open Loop for idle, I need to reduce fuel like crazy. (se picture)

And when Lamda is OK in Open Loop and I switch back to Closed Loop, the engine dies, doens't get enough fuel.

Does S300 manipulate fuel in other ways then for Water ECT.c%/Air IAT.c%, and S.TRIM/L.TRIM% ?

I've recorded Data Logs, in both Open and Closed Loop operation.
Could somebody plz help me?

Thx in advance //BR Benci

Do not use D14 as a wideband input as it cannot see the full voltage range and may be the cause of your issues. I would recommend using the ELD input.

Hi

Thank you for taking the time looking into my problem.
I will definitely try to change the input-pin to D10 for the WB.

But it's still a bit odd, because I've been running the WB on the D14 for several years,
in both closed loop operation and in Open Loop, when I was running ITB's.
Never had a problem, what I can remember.

Do you know the answer for this Q.?
-> Does S300 manipulate fuel in other ways then for Water ECT.c%/Air IAT.c%, and S.TRIM/L.TRIM% ?

Greetings from Sweden.

Any of the things listed in the Fuel compensation, Fuel Injectors, or Fuel Trim tabs can have an effect.

Hi

I'm aware of the different fuel compensation settings, that affect "Water ECT.c%/Air IAT.c%, and S.TRIM/L.TRIM%" .
But these are based on static, predefined settings in the different areas of "Fuel compensation, Fuel Injectors, or Fuel Trim", as you wrote.

Is there any other "dynamic" fuel trimming going on in the background, in Open Loop,
which is none of the above?

Just want to be sure. :-)

Thnx.
