After using out of the box tunes my numbers went down. Please help!

Post by DripDreye »

Last year I got a baseline dyno done for my 2008 Acura TL Type-S (AT)on a Dyno Jet. I was amazed at the numbers I was getting (240whp). Since that dyno I upgraded the exhaust system from front to back, installed a larger throttle body and larger intake manifold. Today I did another pull and 250+ peak hp with gains over 22whp in parts of the band. I was really happy with this until I flashed my ECU with the 2008 Acura TL Type-S AT stock tuned calibration. As you can see the numbers I got dropped drastically (from 250whp to 232whp). Very disappointed with this out of the box tune, I decided to revert back to the stock calibration. The hope was that I would get back the previous numbers I was getting. No luck. The numbers dropped again to 231whp and now it seems I'm stuck with this calibration and it sucks. Am I missing something here? I have heard some great things about FlashPro and was really looking forward to what it could do, but after this I am just not sure anymore. I have included a screenshot of the dyno results, the two calibrations I used and a datalog of the car when it was making 250whp. I did notice that the name of the calibration that shows up as "MT" and not "AT" when I do a filter. Not sure if it makes a difference or not but I was not able to find one for "AT" and thought it was worth mentioning. Also included is a screenshot of that as well. I will include a datalog of the car using stock equivalent and stock tuned after I get it back. I needed new control arm bushing. :(

They we're all there. Is there a limit to post? I can try to repost when I get back home. Maybe it's just one file at a time.

I don't see RPM listed on the dyno plot and the datalogs don't really go above 5000rpm.

Please provide dyno plots with RPM.
Provide datalogs for each run on the dyno.

Did anything change on the vehicle for each of these dyno runs?

We need to know ignition timing, AF and knock retard, as these affect power levels the most.

The datalogs are not from the dyno pulls. I don't have any and won't be able to get any anytime soon. Nothing was changed between the dyno pulls other than the calibration and the time (15 mins later). If you can't help me from what I have given you that's fine because that all that I have. I was just trying to use the out of the box tunes to help boost power until I could get it pro tuned but I ended up going the wrong way. Can you tell me if there is a difference between uploading the stock equivalent calibration and "restore to stock" from the pull-down windows?

Yes there is a difference. Return to stock form the online menu is completely stock. The ones listed in the new calibration window are modified by Hondata.

Even the one that's called "stock equivalent" has mods?
