KPRO V4 running lean problem

Post by Dennisc »

Hello guys,

I just swapped a k20a2 into a CRX. I'm using kpro v4 to run the engine.

I uploaded the base map to the ECU and it starts right up.

I'm also running an AEM wideband (30-0300 X-series), I'm using the analog output and I wired it into the kpro. A0 and GND. In my calibration I select wideband AEM 30-0310 and the following happens:
- Car starts perfectly, runs like this for 30 seconds and then my AFR shows 20-25! So it's running extremely lean and wants to shut down but then goes back to normal AFR for 1 second and does the same repeatedly...

If I disable closed loop the car will run fine and my AFR will show 15 or so...

What did I do wrong?
Help highly appreciated!! Thanks in advance.

Please post the calibration and datalog showing the issue.

I read somewhere that my wideband 30-0300 matches the 30-4100 signal. So I selected this one instead of the previous selected 30-0310 which was wrong. I put voltage offset to -0.8V to match the lambda showed on my guage. The car idles good now.

But it drives far from good... I datalogged a small part, I hope somebody can tell me what to do... Car seems to go lean when I step on the gas...

Help and tips highly appreciated!

Attention: I couldn't upload a .CSV file so I renamed my datalog to Datalogstilstand v2.Kal which should be Datalogstilstand v2.csv

Thanks for your time.

Has this been properly tuned on the dyno?

No this has not, I just selected the base map, so the car should run perfectly on it because I have no major changes done to it...
I will certainly get it tuned but first I want to make sure that everything works as it should... Because I don't want to make a 3 hour drive for nothing and ruin my engine.

So it would be very helpful if you could tell me if you see anything strange and confirm to me this "lean problem"... I have no other kpro at hand nor do I have a spare wideband... Any tips are highly appreciated.

Does that wideband use the same calibration info as one of the listed AEM widebands?

The closer one is the aem 30-2310 but i don't think it's the same what do you think ?

It is similar. Have you tried it?

Yes i tried it. It s normal to run lean at every startup for a few seconds(arround 17 to 18 afr) then goes to normal

It will take the O2 sensor a little bit of time to heat up and read properly,

I’ve got the opposite problem here.

Aem 30-0300 connected up to analog input and ground of kpro 4, and everytime I start up the aem is sending a 0.5v signal which translates to 8.5-8.7a/f which is fine for the first 10 seconds or so until the s.trim kicks in, then it pulls 30% fuel and the engines dies. Once the aem does warm up and start reading, it takes about another 5-10 seconds before the kpro Ecu sees the voltage and if the engine is still running, then does the correction and all works as it should.

Only way around this is to turn the ignition on, wait 30-40 seconds, then start the car.

I guess the other way is to reduce the amount of s-trim so that it can’t pull enough fuel to kill the engine, but why does it take this long? Never had this kind of problem before with previous aem’s, plx etc

It may just be a issue with that AEM wideband. I only recommend using the PLX widebands.
