ignition power for can gauge

Post by spider2k »

would it be ok to grab true ignition from the pins in the ECU for a gaugeart can gauge? i know i can get it elsewhere but im fabbing up a custom harness for a friend that is 100% plug n play and i would like to be able to grab it by soldering a wire to the pin and running it out alongside the digital/analog wiring.

i cant imagine the gauge drawing much current so i wouldnt think its an issue but id like some opinion before i finish up the harness.

What do you mean by true ignition?

true ignition doesnt lose power when cranking. typically you have acc, ign and true ignition. one will come on in the ignition position of the key but will lose power during the cranking cycle.

my concern is more along the lines of whether its going to piss off the ecu if i grab power from it.

thank you for the reply. i added a short internal wire with a plug at the appropriate pin.
