idle and start up problems
Installed the s300 in about 2 weeks ago. Initial start up was perfect. Then after a couple minutes things got wacky. My tuner said to adjust my tps because it was at -3. Ordered the gasket, adjusted the tps to 0, and installed everything again. started it up today and i idle at 2800rpm. idle is not stable either and my a/f slowly leans toward the rich side. any ideas on how to fix this? it scares me when i start hearing weird mechanical noises like screeching or ticks. motor was perfect without the s300.
btw i am using the latest version of smanager.

update
ok here is an update..the only thing that changed was that my fuel pressure was lowered and set per the helms manual. when i turn the car off it makes a weird hissing sound by the intake manifold so that has me concerned but take a look at the datalogs and cal. multiple error codes but the CEL never comes on.
btw i opened up the ecu and im getting a very rapid blinking red light
update 2: uninstalled usb drivers and reinstalled with the most current version of smanager. red light only blinks when the usb is plugged in but performance is still the same with or without the cable connected.

setup:
stock b17
stock injectors
stock intake and header
blocked off FITV
plx-m300 wideband
hondata s300
got the car to run decent. now its just the idle that i need to worry about. driving around i stay at at around 14.7 a/f. but as soon as i stop and let the car idle (stop light), then the idle surges. i have a datalog but i think it is too big to upload. it is about 12 minutes long. shows where the readings go crazy. one thing i just found out that i didn't hit vtec while revving up top because my water temp never reached 180 which is what i set it to. a/f at idle slowly decreases 14>13>12 sometimes hitting 10.
the basemap is basically a stock p30 map, just editted parameters. no changes to timing or fuel.

i mentioned that i did not meet the water temp paramter that is why i didn't cross into vtec. would that explain the datalog to go crazy?Spunkster wrote:you did not engage vtec because you never met all the parameters....50% throttle, 5500 rpm, 150 degrees water temp, and 10 mph
The only place you went above 50% throttle the other parameters were not all met.

i think i might have fixed the idle problem but will test tonight when i go out to be sure. it was a longshot but i reviewed some datalogs when i had the s200. compared ELD and BAT to my recent datalogs with the s300. in the s300 BAT seemed a little high so I checked back to hondalogger at the same rpm. BAT was actually around 13.7 with the hondalogger and 14.2 with smanager. ELD was about the same but thinking back I remembered that the ELD's job was to increase idle if it senses electrical load. well sure enough in my basemap i didn't disable ELD so the ecu must have been using the voltage from the wideband thinking it was coming from the ELD. i will post results after i test it out tonight.

i gues it helped a little bit, got the idle down to about 900..close enough to 850. but it the o2 and wb voltage still oscillate. the datalog is from the ecu and then downloaded to my laptop. for some reason lamba, inj, and duty cut out before the datalog is finished. i will check tomorrow on the ground but for sure the plugs are stock and stock ngk wires. i dont have any stereo equipment. only other electronics in the cabin are a wideband controller and turbo timer.jdmspecdc5 wrote:i think i might have fixed the idle problem but will test tonight when i go out to be sure. it was a longshot but i reviewed some datalogs when i had the s200. compared ELD and BAT to my recent datalogs with the s300. in the s300 BAT seemed a little high so I checked back to hondalogger at the same rpm.
