O2 sensor Open error and map P0108

Post by jkendall559 »

Hello,

The car was first started (calibration "first start.fpcal" with 2 data logs from the 17th) after being down for about 6 months. The ecu was unplugged and out of the car while installing a turbo kit. Finally was able to fire it up a few days ago and found a fuel status 8 saying Open-Error. I went through the calibration and was also getting ready to do some tuning hoping that the O2 sensor might be unplugged or something simple.

Today uploaded the "base calibration.fpcal" and still have the same issue. I also noticed a check engine light with the VSA light on. The error status on flashpro lists P0108 Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit High Input. I swapped out the O2 sensor for an old one I still had and switched the 4bar map sensor back for the stock one. 2nd log shows the same issues with the other sensors installed. Is this an ECU problem? I'm stuck and hoping for some help. Thanks in advance.

The first place I would look is the primary o2 sensor. It appears as though the primary o2 sensor is not getting a reading at all, which causes the ECU to go into "error" mode. If the primary o2 sensor mounted directly into the exhaust stream, or do you have a defouler on the primary o2 sensor? I would address that first, it definitely seems as though the sensor is not getting a reading for multiple reasons.

Thanks for the reply. It's right in the exhaust and it's still clean. I wonder if it got banged around when it was removed from the header while working on the car. I will get a new one today and give it a try. Thanks again.

Okay. That would be a good place to start. Either that or there is a wiring issue, but that would probably be odd. Is the sensor aftermarket by chance? That could be an issue too if it's a cheap eBay or Amazon. They seem to cause a lot of issues. The three I recommend to my guys are the following.

--Bosch 13940 O2 Sensor https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.ph ... 4625&jsn=3
--Denso 2349076: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.ph ... sn=3&jsn=3
--Honda OEM 36531-RRA-013: https://parts.hondaofelcajon.com/oem-pa ... 4PEALw_wcB

Let me know how it goes. I'm curious to see if it fixes the issue. The only other times I have seen this issues is when the o2 is spaced out from the stream using a defouler. So it will be interesting to see if a new sensor fixes your issue.

Solved!

Thank you for all of the help. It was a wiring problem. There was a broken wire on the map sensor. Sensor has 3 wires. The green one was broken. Replaced a section of the wire and everything works including the open error from the O2 sensor. BTW, I went with the Denso and had used one as the old sensor. They work pretty good for me.
