The latest tactic used by spammer is to post a generic single post as a reply to an existing topic. Typically the reply will be something 'thank you for the information' or similar. We delete these accounts.
If you make a single first post on an old topic with no useful information it may be deleted. In that case re-create the account and make a more specific post.
