Euro FK8

Post by CivicVTi »

Hello. I am tuning an FK8 wiht the following mods:
Intercooler
52/52mm hybrid turbo
Exhaust
Downpipe with high flow cat
Eventuri intake
TR2 cams

I have tried every possible combination of settings (removed all limiters, increased requested torque etc) but I can't make the ECU target for high boost at high rpm (it is stuck at about 23psi of target, which is easily achieved with wastegate open about 2.5mm at high rpm). ANy ideas

Have you checked if you have any boost leaks?

Yes but I think I would see the wastegate fully closed in this case. Plus, boost target is achieved easily. I can’t make BPCMD higher. It is only 23psi above 6000rpm.

I'm not an expert, I still learning but I can try to help.

Attached log doesn't seems to match attached calibration. Based on extremely low load I can asume that this was a dyno pull.

- I can see that BP matches BP CMD only at 6000rpm so you can have a small boost leak.
- I see some bad AF oscilations after 5600rpm, 11.68 to 12.65 at 6400rpm.
- HPFP control is not very good.
- I think it would be better to not use Fuel Pump Limit

Thank you for the reply. Indeed AF ratio is erratic as well as the exhaust cam VTC angles. Do not know why. Fuel pump limit is not nearly reached so I guessed it was a good idea to use the limiter. I attach latest log and tune, forgot to mention that I use FK tuning and developement fuel kit (high flow pump and injectors). Got 430 dynapack HP on this, still can't go above 23-24 psi boost command at high rpm.

Yes, looks like it. I can't increase BPCMD at high rpm above 23-24 psi even if I remove all limiters and increase torque request and air charge limit. Hondata, any ideas?

Disable all live tuning. Disable the fuel pump limit. Increase the wastegate flow table. Increase the throttle table to 600 nm on the top column.

Hello Hondata, tried everything, nothing really changed. I only managed to increase BPCMD a little by decreasing intercooler and air filter pressure drop tables to almost zero. This way, BPCMD increased to 25psi at high rpm with a good jump in power. Please check last tune and dyno log.

Wastegate flow has been reduced, not increased.

What DTCs have you disabled over stock?

True. I tried first increasing flow 20% only to see same boost levels but large difference between WGCMD and Wastegate position. So I reduced the values again by 20% (so overall flow rate table where a tad lower than before).

I have not altered the Wastegate position tables though, I do not really understand what this table is for and its axis values.

Alsok, I have not really disabled any DTCs in the DTC specific table. Only secondary o2 related and AFM max voltage

There are lots and lots of DTCs disabled. Perhaps 100. If you open up two FlashProManager windows and overlay the calibration window you will see.

Increase the turbine mass flow more too. I see you have gone from 79 g/s to 100 g/s, but go higher 120 g/s or so. If it is too low then the ECU will open the wastegate because it thinks the turbo can't flow the exhaust gas.

I see what you mean but I did not turn off a single DTC. After your remark, I started a calibration from scratch (euro 2018 FK8) and used all stock settings in the first menus. Exact same DTCs were disabled automatically from the list!

However if I start a new US FK8 2018 calibration, all DTCs are enabled.

Sorry, that seems normal for the Euro FK8 then.

Hello. New upload with 4.2.3 firmware. Only changes to the car -> pracworks carbon intake manifold

Tune modifications -> increased turbine flow and wastegate flow by 20%

Results -> I still cannot increase BPCMD at high rpm. But now another issue arised-> BP is less than BPCMD.

I am not sure if I should alter the new map -> exhaust valve temp.
