VTC or K-Pro Issue?

i installed Blueprint Stage 2 Camshafts. Its street tuned untill dyno and car rans smooth.

i am worried about two things :

1- while the break in for the cams i kept the engine at 2500RPM for 20 minutes. while waiting for the break in period to finish i foundout that runners of the header are in slightly red color but 3rd runner was really hot i could see it even in the bright light. it was fully red colour. what do you think the cause? sparks? a bent valve?

2- i datalogged the run after the cam install. at the datalog there is a CAM and CAMCMD spike. cam angles are no higher than 28 and 22 at the partial throttle. at the datalog you can see that CAMCMD goes to 45 and CAM goes to 51 !! what can cause this? i am using version 1.3.7. this really makes me worry about whats happening.

this happened between 2.26 and 2.28

I am having the exact same issue with a STOCK TSX motor. none of my maps have more than 30 vtc yet the cam cmd spikes to 45 my actual jumps to 25 (limited by stock TSX intake cam gear)... two separate times more than 4 minutes into the log

could I have a sensor going bad?

this is a 2nd completely different tune/kal that this has occurred on.

I have a datalog but its too long & file too large to upload.... help

VTC going to full advance is normal. See http://www.hondata.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9701 This is why you always need a mechanical stop.

The header glowing is fairly common - it was probably running lean on that cylinder.

I was trying to help a friend out that has a k20z1 with 11.7 wiseco's & the same BluePrint Stage 2 cams & the motor runs VERY lean right at 2500 rpm (wot)! I added a ton of fuel but it still spikes to 14.5+ afr :shock: (was over 15.5)... the motor was asking for more fuel @ 2500 than anywhere on the highcam. I was thinking something else maybe at fault
