Fan control - Constant control despite speed

Post by jetspeedz »

I have been doing some tests with the new SPAL fan i put on and all works well when sitting at idle and driving around town. However i find it if im on the highway the FAN will not kick on despite the temp setting in S300.

Does the fan control only kick on below certain RPM's or speed or gear?

I have not been able to find any info on this anywhere.

Thanks

I should add i have the Maximum Vehicle speed set to 0 MPH, i wonder if that is an issue?

Wouldnt setting the maximum vehicle speed to 0 cause the fan to never come on? I normally set them to 30 mph..

I see what you mean, by Maximum wheel speed I interpreted it as the maximum wheel speed which is required before the override takes place.

setting it to 0 mph so far has yielded expected results when testing it at idle and slower speeds.

I'm hoping someone from Hondata can chime in and clear up what the "maximum wheel speed" means for this parameter

I interpret it as maximum speed for the fan to come on. :) Interesting that it works at 0, as I've never tried that.

So far like i said it has worked driving around town and at idle however it does not kick on when driving on the freeways so im wondering if there are parameters the ecu looks at like Gear and speed and basically expect the car to keep cool due to highway speeds?

But if what your saying is true then does it mean the override will work up to that maximum vehicle speed? I don't quite understand why when setting an override you wouldn't want it to work at all speeds. Now im all confused. I guess i can try setting it to something other then 0mph and see if the fan override works or not when im at idle?

The help should be improved to clarify this.

The speed is the point at which it turns off.

So how would you explain when setting it to 0 mph it works at slow speeds?

Some settings in our software do not function properly when you set them to 0. This is just the nature of the ECU code.

I did not know that, I was under the impression before a beta OS is released it is fully tested for things like this, guess ill have to keep an eye out for this stuff on S300 from now on.
