Flashpro for 2017 Civic HB CVT

Post by dredogol »

Hello all,

Had a few questions about the flashpro for the 2017 HB CVT models:

1) Does the ECU flash affect both D and S modes for CVT models, or only S mode?

2) With the +6PSI boost, does it keep the Max torque level below 240-250ftlb?
----> Reason I ask is because of the limits of the CVT before it starts scoring the gear chain.

3) The new upgrade version which changes the boost command (no boost lag during gear shifts), is that only for the +9PSI Manual, or is that change also on the +6PSI setting... also, does this work for CVT?

Thanks.

1. D and S only affect the transmission, not the ECU, so the answer would be yes.
2. Yes, torque is still within the limits of the transmission with the +6spi calibration.
3. The CVT does not have the problem with the boost command lagging in a shift, so no.

Jumping onto this thread with another quick question - how would the +6psi (and +3) calibration affect fuel economy? Do you guys have any hard numbers (or estimates) on this?

your mpg depends on your driving habit. if its the same before the reflash then it will stay the same

I just did a +6 tune on my 16' Civic Touring, and before the flash I usually averaged 37mpg in combined driving.

Now, I'm usually at around 33-34 mpg, but I've noticed I'm utilizing the extra power a bit, which I'm sure is common.... It's a bit addictive :=)

If I were to baby the car and keep the revs low I'm sure I can easily get back to 37 mpg average, and still get 45 mpg on an all highway drive if I keep it under 70, and on fairly level terrain. That would take some willpower.

I recently flashed it back to stock for a few hours the other day, and that is when you really notice how slow the stock tune is.... It is awful, to be honest.

Just a follow up, today I drove 160.8 miles in mixed driving including some steep long inclines, and and averaged exactly 39.0 MPG with my +6psi Flash pro tune....

I didn't get the RPMs over 4000, usually kept it around 1800-2000, and didn't go over 70mph on the highway.

So, you definitely can get great mileage with the Flash Pro tune when you want to, and enjoy the extra power when you feel the need.

Today I got even better mileage, and still drove 70-75 mph on the freeway, over a mountain pass twice....

Just kept it under 3,000 rpm and pretty much drove as normal, not really babying it that much more than anyone would normally drive....

I Filled the tank with Ethanol Free 92 Octane Premium in Auburn, WA, reset my trip mileage and MPG, then drove to Carnation WA, and then to Spanaway, WA totaling 102 miles, and this was the result:
See attached photo.

This car with a Hondata Flashpro tune is probably the best combination of price, performance and fuel economy that you can buy, bar none.

That is quite impressive. I've done a lot more city driving than highway so far so my MPG is nowhere close to that (on stock tune). This relieves really any concern I had about the effect on fuel economy. Thanks again!

Sure, Glad to help, but just remember if you stomp on the gas a lot your MPG will be more like 29-33, or even worse if you're a torque junkie, :)

Have a 2017 touring sedan with CVT. With a +6 tune on a otherwise stock car using only 87 octane, are there any significant increases to torque , HP? I'm interested in more low end torque. Are they any charts showing HP and torque differences btw stock and +6 tune in 87 octane?

You’d get bigger increases if you run ethanol free 92 octane and the pure gas app will show you where the nearest gas station is that sells it... you’ll still do much better than stock with flash Pro and 87. I don’t have the numbers but I’d guess you’d be around 235 ft lbs of torque on 87, and more like 240 with 92 ethanol free gas.

87 octane will be about 7 hp lower than this graph

So that means still over 200 peak HP on 87 octane? What about low end torque, I see it starts off higher, dips slightly them follows the stock curve and then a higher peak. How much a difference on 87 octane? Can I get this on the reflash product instead of Flashpro?

Thanks in advance!

If you only reflash and don’t have a flash Pro to return it to stock when you take it in to the dealer for service, you run the risk of being flagged for a modified ECU and could have your warranty voided... just FYI
