Damage to turbo?

Post by Hyudryu »

Hi guys,

I'm running a turbo setup on my 9th gen SI and I have the hondata TC. Now since hondata TC works by retarding timing to lessen the power delivered to the wheels, is it possible to push too much power to the point where the timing is too retarded, and it ignites after the exhaust valve opens up, sort of an "antilag" effect? Would this cause any strain on my turbo/wastegate when I hit boost in a lower gear, like say first or second with the traction control unit on?

Thanks,
Mark

We have not seem any problems with either drag vehicles or the 1000 hp landspeed vehicles which have the TC operating for around 1 minute at a time. Use an EGT gauge if you are concerned.
