Horsepower questions

Post by Zambri »

Hi everyone, I installed my S300 yesterday and I am so happy about it. I am learning to use and set the app up but I have questions regarding HP.

How is it calculated? How reliable is? can units be changed from ft/lb to hp?

Thanks in advance.

The only way to accurately measure HP and torque is on the dyno.

Sure, I know. But hondata app offers a realtime horsepower calculated PID and I want it to work, not to always mark 0

Thanks

There is no horsepower pid from the ECU so it will not calculate HP.

It is a CALCULATED pid they say.

Then why does hondata sell the mobile app saying it provides horsepower measure. I even bought the races add on where it says “realtime horsepower” as a sales argument.

Hondata lies About their app?

The app calculates the hp from the air flow. There is no hp pid from the ECU.

And what do I have to do to make the app calculate the HP from the airflow? Because horsepower appears twice in the app, normal app and race mode addon. Normal app as calculated PID (see screenshot) and race mode as a realtime measurement (see screenshot)

I see your problem. The hp is only calculated for vehicles with an air flow meter. We'll change the feature notice.

Ok, now I understand...effectively the feature notice should be more clear. I was going crazy to try and make it work.

Apart of that, the app is great.

I have a 2013 si and I cant get the horsepower to show on the app. Does the MAF sensor track that?

How exactly is the HP estimated from MAF?

Side note: I just installed a flex fuel kit and tune on my FK8 today. Butt dyno felt like a significant increase in HP, but the Hondata App estimated HP stayed the same. Haven't taken it to a dyno yet obviously, but I'm wondering if the app's estimated HP equation isn't applicable for flex fuel tunes.
