Hondata fuel system

Post by robfk8ctr »

Also having an issue with the hondata fuel system, installed everything to spec and when at idle DIFP and DIFPCMD are damn near identical (within 10 PSI) however after about 7-12 mins of driving i throw a CEL and the pump shoots to 100% duty and i drop to about 40psi for DIFP. Ive attached a couple logs of the issue and the tune im currently running. Car has ... DP, PRL IC, PRL Race MAF Intake, Hondata fuel system, PRL flex fuel sensor (currently running 15% Ethanol). My tuner can not figure out the issue as cant I. Ill be calling hondata later today when they open but i figured id drop a line here as well

Remove the low pressure line from the pump and check for contamination. The PRL fuel lines are known to do this.

Copy, have checked and there is zero signs of the rubber breaking down and the system is less than 6 months old as are the hoses.

Remove the low pressure pump and send a picture of the filter/sock attached to it. Install the OEM low pressure pump and see if the issue continues.

Am I leaving the tune the way it is when I swap in tank pumps? So 1330cc injectors and a trim of 0?

No change needs to be made when using the stock pump.

so stock pump gives me zero issue, i did set the trim back to what it was because i was running very rich about 12-ish. this log shows totally fine performance from the stock pump when paired with the rest of the hondata system.

What is the serial umber of the fuel system?

Does the Hondata pump have any activity if you give it 12v and ground?

1357, when the engine is placed into accessory mode you can hear it prime quite loudly so it does do something when power is supplied

It does turn on when the car is in accessory and its primed. Funny enough just now when I switched the hondata pump with the factory pump and I disconnected the fuel line from the outside of the pump housing barely ANY gas sprayed out or even leaked out unlike when the factory pump was removed the first time to install the Hondata pump. Also the Hondata pump doesn’t fit entirely in the factory housing and allow all three retaining clips to be secured. Only two of them can be successfully attached without risking damage to the pump, could that be causing the pressure issue? If so how do I go about forcing the retaining clips on?

If it is not clipping together completely then that could be the problem. It may need more force to get them to clip together.

I will try to re-assemble it and gently force the clips on tomorrow and see if that gives me more reliable fuel pressure. I will update with a log once I complete the change.

Just want to be sure this is the intended install method because it looks terribly dangerous for my factory housing as the plastic retaining ring is quite badly tweaked and in my opinion is a break waiting to happen. So far the idle log looks virtually identical between difp and difpcmd. Going to drive and update shortly.
