Did I brick my ECU?

Post by Rnaodmletetrs »

Purchased the instant from hondata website. Copied my VIN from the flashpro when purchasing to make sure I put it in wrong. Jailbreak failed, now car wont start. Even in order history its saying jailed. Is the ECU donski or am I missing something?

Your ECU probably is in Recovery Mode. It can be restored.

In the odd chance that the OBD2 port does not give enough voltage to the FlashPro while you're flashing the ECU, you may encounter the situation as follow:

Flashing process begins as normal.
Tach meter starts to move but never gets to 8,000 RPM for completion.
Tach goes back to 0 RPM part way through the flashing process.
Errors remain on dash display.
Car cannot be turned off from ignition on mode (engine not running).

Should that happen, follow this procedure:
Unplug FlashPro from the OBD2 port.
Press and release the Start button once.
Press and hold Start button the second time - until car turns off completely.
Plug FlashPro back into OBD2 port.
Press Start button twice to go to ignition on mode (engine not running).
Reflash and good to go.

DO NOT remove the negative battery terminal should the incomplete flashing process happens. Doing so will brick your ECU.

at this point, it would be wise to have a battery charger top off your battery to ensure its voltage dont drop too much during this process

I had a battery tender on the car while I was doing it. Not sure what happened honestly. Spoke to hondata over the phone and he was at a loss as well.

After talking with hondata. I have to pull my ECU. Mail it to them and pay an additional $150...
