Introduction
- VTEC point decreased from 6000 rpm to
4200 rpm
- Rev limit 8500 rpm
- Maximum torque gain 20 ft/lbs torque at 5800 rpm
- Maximum power gain 23 hp at 5800 rpm
- Fully dealer compatible - works with all Honda scan tools and equipment
This reflash is only for use with a Toda header.
Pricing
Hondata does not sell direct - all sales and payment must be conducted through Hondata dealers. The upgrade information form must be sent with your ECU.

Tuning Notes.
This dyno chart shows an 06 S2000 with Toda header, test pipe, Hondata heatshield intake gasket and exhaust.
The only change between the two runs was the ECU program.
For clarification. The Hondata gasket adds about 3-4 ft pounds of torque across the rev range. There was no specific tuning for the gasket. The heatshield gasket adds this torque to a stock S2000.
The dyno chart represents the gains you can get with a Toda header, test pipe and reflash. Midrange torque from 4500 rpm to 6000 rpm is substantially improved; peak power only marginally.
Different types dynos will display different peak power numbers, however the gains shown between 4200 and 6200 rpm will be similar regardless of the dyno you use.
For this reflash we implement a VTEC window. Under 4200 rpm you will always be on the low cam. Over 6000 rpm you will always be on the high cam. Between 4200 rpm and 6000 rpm you are on the low cam at cruise and light throttle switching instantly to the high cam at wide open throttle.
Who can use this upgrade?
Any 06-08 S2000 with the ECU part numbers found on the bar code on the side of the ECU:
- 37820-PZX-A09 through A14
What if I already have the reflash for the stock S2000?
If you already have the reflash for the stock 06 S2000 then the upgrade price is $200.
Will a different brand header
work?
While we will not create custom tunes for any
other combinations of bolt on parts, other
headers will probably be ok. You should always
dyno the engine with the reflash to make sure
the air/fuel is within a safe range. If the
header does not work then your options are to
switch to a Toda header or return your ECU to
stock.
Can I use an 2006 ECU in my
2000-2005 vehicle?
This is not easy nor cheap, and we do not
offer support for such a swap - at the least the
engine sensors, sensor wheels, throttle body,
ECU, vehicle harness, ECU harness, dash harness
and cluster would need to be changed.
How do I get the reflash
You will need to remove the ECU and via a dealer send it to Hondata. Unlike reflashes for other Honda models you will not need to send the key and
immobilizer; just the ECU. Fill out this form and contact a Hondata dealer. Hondata does not sell direct.
How do I remove my ECU?
The ECU is located behind plastic panels to the left of the driver's left foot. You will need a 10mm socket. This is what it looks like - in place and removed from the car.

This graph shows:
- 06 S2000 with Heatshield gasket, exhaust and Hondata reflash with stock header and cat - red line.
- 06 S2000 with Heatshield gasket, exhaust and Hondata reflash with
Toda header and test pipe - blue line.
The purpose of this test was to see the difference the Toda header and test pipe made.
The Toda header and test pipe were first tested with the standard Hondata 06 S2000 reflash. The gains were only minimal, partially because the car was running very lean from 5500-6000 rpm. Lowering the VTEC point adding fuel and
optimizing the ignition resulted in the reflash detailed above.
Combining an ECU reflash with a Toda header makes more gains than each individual item.
The intakes manifold on the S2000 series engines get very hot. They have a metal intake gasket which transfers heat from the head very quickly. Pay lots of attention to keeping everything cool and you will see results. The S2000
Hondata intake gasket reduces intake temps about 15-40 degrees F, adds 2-4 ft pounds of torque and 4-5 peak HP.
