By chance I think I've found my problem. When disconnecting the USB from the laptop I noticed that the laptop was resorting to battery power (even although it was plugged into the car). Just use the stock ITR one that's there.
Compare the ignition to that of the LsVTEC one and make up your own mind on what you think suits the car best.

Yeah, the same way you could watch the display work through the datalog as in the S200.

The spark plugs I am using are NGK BKR7E-11, and the ignition leads are Magnecor, reds. The engine has done 4k miles and at the time of rebuild I replaced the distributor with a pattern TD44.

Like I said though, I’ll try oem leads this Friday. Could the leads really be the problem?
