The amount of ignition retard from throttle tip in can be adjusted by gear. A value of -100% is minimum retard; a value of 0 of higher is more ignition retard.

smooths curves of any of the three tables (fuel, timing & cams). the logic is for a smooth transistion from point to point. is the pinging mostly in 5th and 6th. if so try taking timing out by gear. what's your timing values in this area?

that what i'm running now - set at 4.5k @ 100kpa and 6k @ 50 but i would love to have more control of the settings - like by gear.

i really like it at 3.5 or so... maybe i'll change it back and like you said layoff between 4-5k in 3rd and 4th or downshift to get the rpm out of that range....
