K24 swap - a8 engine swapped for an a2 // 2007 Honda Element

Post by mlbateswi »

I recently completed swapping over an '07 tsx/absolute(a2) motor into my 2007 Honda Element, which comes with the a8. The original motor had a blown cylinder.

Everything seemed to go well with the swap; but - my vehicle consumes about 13mpg now, when stock it was about 20-24 mpg.

A friend pointed out to me that Vtec kicks in at 2500rpm on the a8 engine, and at 6500rpm on the a2. This could mean that my motor is pretty much running on Vtec all of the time, and that means the valves are in high lift mode all the time which consumes more fuel.

I wish I had some tuners near me with k24 knowledge, but can't seem to find any in my area. I just want to get my vehicle running right, I am not looking for performance necissarily.

I am using the original ECU, do I need to reflash the engine part of the ECU so that the engine runs properly?

Thanks!

I'm sorry, but we do not offer anything that will work with this type of swap. You probably need the proper engine for the ECU you have.
