p72 in non-vtec car?

Post by sponsored1 »

Currently i have a built b18a which as of right now is a non-obd computer. Im running 20lbs of boost with a 100 spool up shot on the street. Im in the midst of converting over to obd1, and my question is if i use a p72 vtec computer and harness from the same car, can i leave the vtec plugs unplugged and disable the vtec by telling hondata it is not a vtec computer? The reason for this is i want to use the knock sensor. If anyone knows whether this will work please let me know.

You can use it. All you do is leave the VTEC plugs undone and set the VTEC engagement value at an unattainable RPM [i.e. - set the VTEC RPM at 10,000 RPMs]. VTEC will then never engage and you'll never get an error code.
