Hondata EBC

Post by 05typeR »

When the car is idling with the connection for the EBC connected (B21) vacuum (pressure source on intake manifold) is allowed to pass, when the wire harness is removed no vacuum passes.

I dont think this is normal for this to be activated on idle.

currently have fixed duty @ 15% and activation pressure at 9.5psi

Hummm,
Did expect a person would have needed all that information for a general question.
Will get the info when I return home in the mean rim have anyone ever came across this problem and what was the fix to it?

Without seeing your settings and a datalog of the problem it is impossible to speculate on what might be happening.

UK Model Honda EP3 Type R (K20A2 motor)
- serial number of your K-Pro - 12092
- ECU part number 37820-PRB-A06, 2068-600651 (i did the wire conversion to make this work)
- KManager version -3.2.5.0
- the calibration attachment -attached
- a datalog of a problem - attached, not sure if you will see the problem, may find the source.
- anything about the car which has been modified from stock which may affect the ECU - im using an external wideband which is on one of the inputs and im using a nirous output as well.
- when and where you got the K-Pro - around 2013/02/13
- a specific description of the problem - hondata boost solenoid active at idle which is causing the wastegate to open during this time.

how its hooked up - turbo pressure source to WG bottom
intake manifold port (vacuum/pressure) to EBC port 1
port 2 to WG top.

Since your datalog does nto show the problem, all I cann suggest is that you change your setting for quick spool. See the help file for how to properly set up quick spool: http://www.hondata.com/help/kmanager/bo ... st+control

Ok.

so this brings me back to where i started. why would the solenoid be activated on idle?
once the quick spool is set up correctly the solenoid will stay closed on idle?

i should also mention with the solenoid active at idle it has the wastegate open as well.

The datalog you posted does not show there being any duty cycle for boost control. If you can supply us with a datalog showing the actual problem I will be more than happy to look at it.

You also have the same duty cycle in the table for 2 different pressures.

the log was taken when the problem was occurring.

i made the correction, the first block was to be 0 because im using a 5psi spring.

just a thought. . .do you think this problem can be happening from the MIN/MAX duty cycle limits?

i had it set to 15% min. . .maybe this is the root cause of the problem and should be set to 0%

2013/10/03

I tried changing the MIN/MAX settings for solenoid operation to 0% and 100% but still had the same problem.

I read another post here where a guy said don't use the same pressure source for solenoid and wastegate.
What is your take on this?
Using a one way valve so vacuum does not pass and positive pressure will open it?

How exactly did you wire the solenoid?

Both wires to the evap connection.

based on the manual one is the ground which the ECU controls and the other comes from fuse box, 12v source.

Try wiring it directly instead and make sure that the Evap purge is no longer connected to the ECU at all. The switched power should have a fuse to protect the circuit.

The evap is no longer in the system, even the hoses has been removed.
The circuit is currently a fuses circuit but I will mock up a temp fused circuit and see what happens.

Evening update:

independent wire ran, same problem.
did the quick spool tables, same problem.

i turned off boost control and the problem does not exist however if i prob both terminals at this connections i get charging voltage with the boost control ON or OFF but the solenoid does NOT activate and allow vacuum to pass when its off and connected.
