S2000 Kpro 5v source

Post by RAIN H8R »

Hello,

I am adding an Ethanol content sensor, AEM Inline WB02, GaugeART CAN Gauge, and multiple AEM temperature and AEM pressure sensors to my S2000 Kpro 4. What are the recommended sources for 5v power and 5v ground on the S2000 ECU connections? The Kpro help page for analog inputs does not list a 5v source or 5v ground for an S2000 ECU, it only gives a wiring diagram for a K series ECU connections using the E connector.

In this S2ki thread, other individuals have mentioned these pins to be usable. But I would prefer an official word from Hondata.

Also, is it safe to run 3 AEM fluid temp and 2 AEM fluid pressure sensors on that single power source from the ECU? I plan to have each sensor wired individually with a 5amp fuse off a power distribution block that gets powered by the 5v source from the ECU. 5v grounds from all of the temp and press sensors would go to the 5v ground pin on the ecu.

See my attachment.

Thank you,
Dustin

Use any of the Vcc pins on the ECU (Vcc1, Vcc2 etc). You should not use a fuse as it will cause a voltage drop.

Thank you for the prompt reply, even on a Sunday night! Much appreciated!

I try to practice correct wiring, and I know you guys are picky with how a car is wired with Hondata, so I apologize if I am asking simple questions.

Can run all 5 sensors without issue on the single 5v source from the ecu, or is this too much load on one power source?

I'm assuming I could merge the fluid pressure power and ground wires together to the engine bay, then split them once I break away to where the sensors are located. The temp sensors require individual resistors, so I'll need to run individual power wires to each temperature sensor, but I should be able to run a single ground wire, and merge them together where wires meet back to the ECU area. Are these methods ok with you? (Just trying to minimize the amount of wire I need to run, and stuff though the firewall grommet)

Thank you,
Dustin

I was able to find information from AEM for teh Series 2 stand alone directions. They list C28 as available for 5v power, and A31 as available for 5v ground.

Are these 2 pins acceptable for power and ground? I do not want to use power or ground connections that are already in use.

C28 can be used, but A31 is cannot be used as it is not connected through the adapter board to anything.

Ok. Can you please provide me with an acceptable way to ground the 5 v sensors?

Thank you.

Try using C7 or C18 as they are sensor grounds

How many sensors can be run off of one ECU pin for 5v supply? I have (2) AEM pressure sensors (30-2131) and (1) AEM temp sensor (30-2012) that I would like to run off of C28 while grounding to C7 or C18. Is that possible? Or should I use a 12v to 5v converter?

Each pressure sensor draws 4.5mA @5v

Thank you

3 sensors would be fine. You should not use an external 5V source as the exact voltage is important for correct AD conversion.

What is the ground on the analog connector for? Can this be used as a ground for oil pressure/temperature etc sensors?

Analog ground for sensors. You have to be very very sure that whatever you ground is not going to draw any significant current. eg a wideband sensor will damage the ECU and KPro because it draws a lot of current for the o2 heater. A MAP sensor would be ok.

Can someone confirm this is accurate s2000 KPro 5v sources? Thanks so much.

5v power: C19 or C28
5v ground: C7 or C18
