Question on Lambda Sensor - Open Loop

Post by Piero8181 »

Hi Guys, I race a Civic EP3 in Spain fitted with an MMR K20 Fast Road/Race Engine which I purchased from the UK, it was mapped by Romain and I purchased the ECU and all ancilleries with the engine. The engine was mapped with a Lambda sensor (As it was fitted to a road car) and I can see from the MAP that it is set to closed loop, which makes sense.

I don't run a Lambda sensor in my race car, therefore should I disable the closed loop in the K-Manager? By doing that do you think I will gain any extra power? Can I just tick the box to disable the closed loop or are there other modifications I need to do as a result? I'm asking as the engine has never felt like it has the 280hp from the dyno print off, so I am thinking this could be why its down on power.

Your advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Piers

You should disable closed loop if you do not have a sensor as it will generate an error and force open loop. It probably will not change the power much at all.
