S2000 Cold Start - ID 1000cc injectors

Post by The Spectacle » Tue Sep 29, 2009 9:31 am

My car currently takes a long time to crank over when its cold. I tried pulling as much as -50% cranking fuel trim out and that has not seemed to help...not sure how to go about fixing this. Once it starts it idles like a kitten so I'm sure the deadtimes are entered in correctly. What else can I adjust to get this thing back starting like stock?

No datalog ATM...if you need one I will get one and post it up.

If I press the gas while cranking it starts easier. Thought that meant I needed less fuel?

Ok I'll give it a shot later and post up. This is going to take a few days, cold start isn't exactly something you can replicate over and over.

Our testing of the ID1000cc injectors in a S2000 shows that the spray pattern results in a longer cranking time than stock injectors. Datalog and calculate the time interval from the start of cranking until the engine reaches 1000 rpm - 0.5s is normal for stock injectors; the 1000cc injectors take 2-3 seconds.

For reference your initial injector pulse should be 12ms at 60F, decreasing to 6ms at 160F.

If you are getting other behaviour (engine fires, but takes a long time to reach a stable idle), then post a datalog of the problem. Otherwise, a long cranking time is a characteristic of those injectors.
