surging rolling idle
d16z6 grand vitara build
evo 8 550cc inj.
s300 p28
serial # 21706
hondata 4 bar map
plx-r300 wideband in d10 eld pin with eld wire disconnected
loaded up latest beta version and uploaded. now constant rolling surging idle from 1000-3000rpm
otherwise driving characteristics ok mainly idle issue.
no vacuum leak - pressure check holding 20psi, smoke test no leak found
no iac issue, when disconnected idle still surges, i can hear the tone of engine change when +/- idle adj.
no tps issue
i'm lost....help....i've tried other calibrations/maps getting same results with idle issue. what am i missing???

Re: surging rolling idle
So the idle surging only occurs while moving? When you come to a stop the surging stops?

does it all the time in neutral regardlesscarnot wrote:So the idle surging only occurs while moving? When you come to a stop the surging stops?
Re: surging rolling idle
post a datalog showing the problem
Re: surging rolling idle
This is a typical symptom of a FITV that needs to be adjusted. There is a piece in the FITV that can come unscrewed and will cause the problem you are describing.

Re: surging rolling idle
just to mention, when i erase ecu, it'll idle but lean lean readings. way over beyond readings (19+ A/F)
even disconnecting iac did no change. once i upload any calibrations in, i get the rolling/surging idle
here is a log of it from cold start til rolling idle
i hope i logged it right.
i will also state that i know the A/F readings that ecu is logging is incorrect at the moment
i had it under d14 (o2) before and it was accurate but wasn't sure if that circuit can handle the wideband so i changed it to d10 (ELD) and that's why the readings are off but no matter what it still rolls/surge

Have you checked this, as it looks like a vacuum leak according to the datalog.

Re: surging rolling idle
no i have not checked that...i will...
it just seems so unusual that it'll occur...
do you have to do that when you install hondata for some reason?...
i'm trying to understand how it affected it...

Re: surging rolling idle
My friend Matt did a nice write up about diagnosing this problem. It may be a coincidence that it started when you went to a newer version of the hondata software. The link below should help you determine if it is mechanical or not.

OMFG!!!...
that was it...freaking thing just fell out...
coincidence is bout right...had no probs till i started s300...never doubt the inevitable...
skips a lot of steps by just checking if you got vacuum or not on bottom hole when warmed up...mine was still sucking...
so i took it apart and broke few screws while at it...
all done...idle great!!!
thx much!!!
