S300 red light on and can't erase and update [UPDATED]

Post by rafael_vti »

Hello,

My car was running OK for almost a year and this week started to behave very weird.

The car started to turn CEL on and cut fuel at 2000 RPM.

Running the diagnose gives me the "Error 0".

When I try to datalog (with the key ON) the value of the sensors are not updated.

I have already performed the ECU troubleshoot (as it says in the help) and failed at update.

I could download the map (
download_temp.skl
Map downloaded from ECU
(39.2 KiB) Downloaded 139 times
) from the ECU and a few datalogs (
14.s3d
One of the datalogs that I could download from ECU
(97.72 KiB) Downloaded 123 times
) present there (although I never recorded any in the ECU, only on SManager)

Can someone point me what direction should I go?

Infos:
Hondata S300 v1
Serial #s300 - 12579
SManager 2.1.1.0
1993 honda civic N/A
P30 ECU
Purchased from: AJPerformance in Lauderhill FL
Assembled by Way Motorsports

Download the most recent beta version of software from the downloads section of the website, then try using the erase fuction in the online menu. When that finishes, close the program, reopen it and load a fresh calibraiton from new calibrations and try to upload.

Thanks for your reply Spunkster!

I just downloaded and installed the latest version (
Hondata SManager Version (Beta)
Hondata SManager Version (Beta)
hondata smanager version.png (30.61 KiB) Viewed 4809 times
) and tried to erase de ECU and I got the same error as before:
Error after erase
Error after erase
photo 1.JPG (172.72 KiB) Viewed 4809 times
I don't know if does any difference but when I try to erase the progress bar moves slowly until 100% and then I receive the error.

I still tried to Upload a fresh new calibration (for an US P30) and got the error:
Error after upload stock calibration
Error after upload stock calibration
photo 2.JPG (151.27 KiB) Viewed 4809 times
I even tried to run the "Test Upload", but got the same error.

What else can I do?

Thanks in advance!

Hello again Spunkster!

I have a good news (at least it looks like)!

I repeated the whole process and everything appears to be OK now!

I`m going to list all the steps and the results since I don`t know what exactly fixed and even if it really fixed or if it's just an intermittent issue.

1) On Dec 4 I took the ECU off the car (and disconnected let the battery of the car disconnected) since I was planning to send it to Hondata.
2) I didn't had time to ship the ECU to Hondata and on Dec 10 I saw that a new version of the SManager was released and I decided to give it a try.
3) I installed the new version (2.2.0.0) in my netbook and today I installed the ECU back in the car.
4) The led remained RED when I connected the netbook and I couldn't datalog.
5) With the datalog option disabled I downloaded the calibration from ECU without error.
6) Without changing anything uploaded the same (weird) calibration that I downloaded, the upload was OK and the led became GREEN!!!
7) Performed the ERASE and this time was FAST (couple seconds) and finished OK!
8) Uploaded successfully an old calibration!
9) The led remained GREEN, I turned datalog ON, and the sensors were read and updated on SManager.
10) I was able to turn on the car and let it running for around 30 seconds and turned off.

I`m very happy and worried at same time, may be the new version fixed an corrupted S300 memory block or something like this? Or my issue with the S300 is intermittent and must be send to RMA anyway?

What do you guys think? Is my S300 reliable or not?

Thanks in advance,
Rafael

You will have to continue to use it and see if it is now working correctly.

Here we go again!

1) Turned on the car without changing anything from the last time (I didn`t had time to work on the car so it was turned off all these days), same thing solid CEL and RED light at the ECU!

2) Opened the window "Datalog -> Download from ECU" and full of weird datalogs, "Delete All" worked (
Datalogs
Datalogs
datalogs.png (56.68 KiB) Viewed 4774 times
).

3) Online -> Download, very weird map (
download_temp.skl
Downloaded calibration
(41.15 KiB) Downloaded 110 times
)

4) New stock P30 (
stock p30 plus injector.skl
Stock uploaded map
(39.25 KiB) Downloaded 114 times
), test upload, GREEN Light !

5) Turned datalog ON and the sensors were activated!

6) Switch ignition to OFF and ON after a few seconds and get back to step 2!!

All this happened using 2.2.0

Is my S300 bad?

Tested with SManager 2.2.1, same result!

If I upload the callibration, I can even start the car and let the engine running for a few minutes.

What else can I try?

I bought a new S300 (v2) and while it does not arrive, I'm still playing with the old one... (I'm going to send the old one for RMA when the new arrive).

Today I figured out that the memory get corrupted when I turn off/on the car and the fuel pump is activated (that regular noise).

When I turn off/on and the fuel pump is not activated, the s300 memory remains ok (map ok, green light, able to datalog, etc...)

Any thoughts?

Best regards!

If you have been given an RMA there is nothing more that can be done. You will just have to send it in.
