High requested timing on startup

Post by sohc_mshue »

Hi,

I recently had an issue on a car running a cpr. Sometimes when cranking it would start right up. Then other times it would sound like it was firing way off time and have trouble starting. When it would finally start the ignition timing in the log would shoot right to 59deg for about 10 seconds. Then would return to the normal calibration timing. This would even happen with the timing lock turned on. It would go to 59deg after cranking and then after 10 seconds would go to the locked timing value.

Has anyone seen this issue before? I can post a log or cal if necessary.

Thanks,
Matt

Did you have a datalog of this occurring?

Yes here are two logs of it. One shows it hanging at that timing and another shows it blipping that timing when it first fires.

I even tried a stock gsr calibration with the injector sizing changed and cpr turned on to run the car. It did the same thing. This does not happen every start. Only probably half of the time. Normally it fires right up, but when this happen it spits and sputters out of the exhaust while cranking like its firing way off time even though commanded timing during cranking does not look off.

Also on one full throttle pull at high rpms it blew a big fireball out of the exhaust and misfired at 8000 rpm as if spark fired off time as well (this did not show in the log though). This could possibly be related.

Yes I will try to post later tonight. It did it for me even on a stock cal with the injectors rescaled if that means anything.

What is the serial number that is on the s300 board inside the ECU?

From Help, About, what is the version of software you are using?

2.5.3.0 is the Hondata Version. I will have to try getting the serial from the customer.

I believe that this is from low voltage when cranking. Even when running at 1400 rpm the voltage is only 12.5V. It might also be the ECU itself, so if possible test with another.
