Boost Controller issue?

Post by MikhailBjornson »

Engine:
*1999 Honda Accord Ex
*H22a Turbo (5lb spring) P28 Hondata S300
*Tial MVS 38mm v-band wastegate
*Wastegate vent to atmosphere
*Ebay special EMUSA turbo manifold
*Hondata (Mac? ) 4 port boost control solenoid
*Total of ~13-14ft of fuel line from turbo to inlet of boost controller and then back over to the wastegate (Total includes both lines from controller top and bottom of wastegate)

Boost control settings:
*100% normally closed
*Activation 0.5 psi
*DC 15%
*Var Freq 10hz

Problem:
The problem I am having is that when I increase duty cycle, the boost controller and wastegate start to regulate boost, but I can actually hear the wastegate pulsating. It seems to do a pretty good job of actually regulating boost still and I dont see any sharp changes in boost pressure however I dont think I should be hearing the wastegate pulsating.

Potential solutions:
*The fused power for the solenoid is right off of the power for my 3 Aem guages (Boost, oil pressure, and afr) which pulls from one of the open spade ports off my stock fuse box so may have to find a new spot for fused power for the solenoid.
*Wrong solenoid frequency however I tried changing frequency with the 4lb spring which didnt change the pulsating wastegate
*Wastegate spring too small so the wastegate is too easy to move

10hz is WAY too low.
Mac solenoids operate at 30hz-60hz. Why hondata has the default value set at 76hz, I have no idea. But I always use 45hz with every car I tune, and it's almost always perfect. Try 45hz. If it still pulses slightly, try 55 or 60hz

You're absolutely correct! Ended up moving the frequency up to 20hz and it did it a little then moved it to 30hz and had no issue!!!
Thanks!!
