Strange problem with Rev Limiter Kicking in

Yesterday while at the track, I had 3 episodes where, I'd shift gears and the rev limitor would just kick in with nothing I could do to disengage it. After a few seconds, it would finally disengage and I could drive again.

I have attached a datalog of a 1/8th mile pull where you can see 1st and 2nd going just find when i shift to 3rd, rev limitor just holds.

I was thinking, maybe some random ground issue, but when i saw the datalog with the revlimitor stuck on, i just don't know whatelse it could be than a software glich.

Please let me know your opinions.

you guys should update the forum logic to allow posting of re4 files :)

Don't use the s200 clutch switch input. Use one of the ecu inputs. This is a known issue.

hrmm, so I could just use the mph for launch limitor and then hard wire the clutch switch into the ecu off some pin, well other than the ones I currently use for the nitrous input and output.

thanks, this does explain the randomness. as i noticed it randomly happened, but tended to happen more, when i let it bounce off the limitor.

this problem is back again. I recreated all 8 maps from scratch to create my new map. Yesterday on my way to the track, it started to act up. I tried two passes at the track and rev limitor would just hold. I don't use the clutch switch anymore.

Anyway to get rid of this bug, or should I move back to romeditor v3?

I'm personally glad, I haven't started to tune people with v4 yet, as these random bugs are annoying to say the least.

it won't let me post the datalog as its in .rec since its rom3 datalog i guess. want me to post a jpg image?

I'm not wondering if maybe it could be a bad blue box or a bad ecu or something. just doesn't make sense. The car is 100% perfect on the street, but get to the track and launch the car and it can't get past first gear without revlimitor just holding.

I had a similar problem, did you turn off the clutch switch on both the 3 step and full throttle.. once I did that it stopped kicking in..It never happened to me until the last update..anyway maybe this helps :?:

yep, clutch switch was disabled in rom4 software completely. Just had launch rpm active.

clutch switch was enabled in Rom 3.6xx version as it never had problems with the external switch through the blue box.

The strange thing is it works fine on the street, but at the track its an instant failure. This past weekend, it was permanently engaged for around 3hours. I'd start it where it would idle, but any attempt to drive and it would just think its on rev limitor and turn off the injectors. talk about an embarassing pass down the track, wher eyou have to restart every 60ft to just pop the clutch and let it coast another 60ft.

Blue box was solid red, so it wasn't a connection problem or anything.

I've considered moving to s300, but then again, i tune alot of s200 cars, so I need to make sure my once stable platform isn't developing random bugs. although maybe my blue box is taking a hit, after all it is pretty darn old.

I'm confused, are you using RE4 or RE3?

Are you using the clutch switch input on the interface box? If so you cannot do that with RE4.

I've used both, the latest file is with RE3, due to this problem occurring in RE4 without the clutch switch.

Basicly, I moved to RE4 when released, had issues with rev limitor, happened to be clutch switched, so I removed.

Problems continued to happen with RE4.

3 weeks ago, moved back to the latest RE3, used clutch switch again since I'm able to use it with RE3. Had same problem with RE3 with rev limitor just kicking in and holding.

Now we are here and I have a car that can run RE4 or RE3 yet at the track they both appear to have the same problem, either the ostrich or a chip in the ECU.

sounds more like a problem with your clutch switch.
