08 civic si skunk 2 CAI tune help

Post by Bbert209 »

Hello everyone, I have a 08 mugen si that I just purchased a skunk 2 CAI for, was previously running a knn short ram with the knn tune, currently I have the stock tune map on it but it seems to be not doing much for it, the rpms go up n down at idle and when coming from driving to a stop, can anyone point me in the right direction to which base map to use with this, ima be getting it tuned but not for another month. Current mods are the p2r throttle body spacer, the skunk CAI and the oem mugen exhaust., Thank you all in advance.

I can help you help you dial it if you want. Do you have any datalogs I can review, and can you post the calibration you have in the car right now? The S2 intake is quite a difference from the K&N which is most likely why you are experiencing the issues you are. Either way though, if it's not an actual mechanical issue, we can certainly clean it up in the tune.

To tune it right takes about 7-10 revisions in total. Each cam angle should be tuned and then building a final revision from there is the ideal way to do it. If you absolutely want it done faster, we can probably get it to a good point in 4-5, but I would recommend doing it properly as I mention by tuning each cam angle properly.

I see, if you're getting a system too lean code then we need to get you on a file immediately. When it's throwing that code it means the ecu is having trouble adding enough fuel and the trims are maxed out.

Are you okay with doing the longer version of the tune, or do you have to get it done in a couple revisions? I can send you a file to start on either way right now, just let me know.

I'm guessing you're in the Stockton area, having 209 in your name... I am not far from you then, Sacramento area.

Let me know on the process, the correct way to do it will take 7-10 revisions as I mention. Let me know if you have any questions.

No need for that, I can get you started right now...

The datalogging portion is the most important aspect of it all. We want the datalogs to be at least 20 minutes in length, if a little longer that's no problem, but aim for at least 20 minutes. On the drive, we want normal driving like stop light to stop light type driving, and one wide open throttle (WOT) pull in third gear from 2500-8600 so we can see the WOT fueling. Don't get too spirited in the driving until we get a few revisions in, but take this one for a normal drive and get the one WOT pull in third gear from 2500-8600.

Let me know if you have any questions. Here is the first file for you, we start with it on the 0* cam angle and then work our way up. After about 4 revisions, I will set you loose and we will see how it feels.

Sounds good! I check on here regularly, but if you need to get a hold of me my email address is under the "calibration" tab in the tune file.

Looks great for a start. Made a couple fueling changes and one ignition change for knock. Now we move onto the 15* cam angle. Take this one for a drive just like that last one, 20 minutes or so with one WOT pull in third.

Yeah it will get better and better as we go. We are working on details right now, so the cam angle map is static to dial each cam angle in. Once we blend the cam angles out it will really wake up. If you do a header and exhaust down the road, it will get even better. But we'll get it as good as we can with the intake only.

That one looked good again, made some fueling adjustments and now we will move onto the 30* cam. Take this one for a drive just like you have been. It's looking great, you should be happy in the end. A couple more revisions and we blend everything out and see how it looks.
