50 degree cam angles safely on JDM Civic Type R

Post by dellas »

Can I run 50 degree cam angles safely on FD2 JDM Civic Type R(no piston to valve contact)?
If not what is the maximum safe cam angle?

The VTC mechanical stop, rather than the ECU, limits the maximum cam angle and prevents valve/piston contact. In a stock vehicle the VTC will run to 50 degrees for VTC cleaning.

The ECU 'cleans' the VTC solenoid by going to full advance a few times per drving cycle.
