Toda reflash on nearly stock s2k?

Post by SlowTeg »

Just curious how the today reflash works on a nearly stock s2k? Is a header/exhaust really necessary to get the big benefit of the lower vtec crossover? Would the car run too rich w/ the stock header/exhaust?

I like the idea of having the lower vtec x-over and a smoother powerband, but if it doesn't help at all w/ a nearly stock car then it's pointless to have it that low. I was considering getting a TP, but am a little concerned about throwing a CEL as the newer s2k's seem to have this problem.. TIA!

I helped a friend tune his '06 that had just an exhaust and TP (stock intake and header), and we were able to lower VTEC to 3900 with gains. The Toda flash worked well for his car too, but you could still feel VTEC engage a little bit.

There wouldn't be any harm in trying the Toda calibration. Just datalog it, and see how your long and short term fuel trims look. Then make sure your AFR isn't too rich or lean at full throttle, and that you have no knock counts.
